The core concept of sociology is that the associations within which individuals belong and the social interaction that takes place within those groups predominantly form human nature. The party, not the individual, is the paramount subject of sociology. The sociologist is particularly interested in people ‘s interaction-the ways in which people behave to react and affect each other. Its approach to processes (the approach to science) and its subject matter (human interaction) define sociology. As a scientific analysis of human interaction, it is correctly described. Brief Intro of Science : Science is systematic embodiment of knowledge. The foundation of science is reason and proof. A science is “a branch of knowledge or practice that systematically arranges and illustrates the application of general laws to deal with a body of facts or realities.” In their informal order, science integrates facts and ties them together to make rational inferences. Science takes a cognitive framework. By observation , experimentation, assumption etc., empirical expertise is gained. Science has the following qualities, such as objectivity, evaluation, precise estimation, experimentation, precise calculation, sweeping generalisation and interactions between cause and effect. Sociology as a psychology: Science ? There is a major debate about the particular essence of sociology. A concern as to whether or not sociology is science? Perhaps the minds of sociologists have long been puzzled. Maybe it was because of this that sociologists were split into two opposing classes. As a result, two contrasting views on the essence of sociology are visible. Sociology is a practice with one category of sociologists and the scientific methodology is adopted and applied by sociology. This opinion is supported by the founding fathers of Sociology, Auguste Comte, Emile Durkheim and others. Others have varying viewpoints and think that sociology is not a science. As other natural sciences, Auguste Comte claims that certain natural laws also regulate sociology. Sociology is, thus, a science. Others also argue that sociology is as much a science as politics , economics, psychology, etc. So lets talk about the Proving and conflicting factors of Sociology vs Science Agreeing Factors of Sociology is Science (1) Scientific approaches are adopted by sociology: By following the scientific approach, sociology studies social activities. While it is not possible to experiment with men in a laboratory, the social activity of man is nevertheless subject to empirical study as a natural phenomenon. Scientific approaches are used to quantitatively evaluate social processes as scales of the sociometry schedule, case analysis, interview and questionnaire. (2) Sociology gives detailed observations: In the field of sociology, observation is possible even if it does not have a laboratory. Outside the laboratory, accurate observation is also necessary. The laboratory of sociology is the whole social world. Inside a laboratory, Newton did not invent their laws. Sociology makes tribal marriage observational at the time of incidence. And if sociology does not have a laboratory, it also makes precise measurements. Sociology is, thus, a science. Besides experimental studies, science is not the only requirement. Conflict Factors of Sociology is Science (1) Lack of experimentation: Sociology is not a science, because research is not feasible. Sociology deals with interpersonal interactions that can not be checked in the laboratory. Human interactions can not be seen or measured since they are abstract in nature. We can’t experiment with things that are abstract. (2) Inefficiency in terms of terminology: In terms of terminological inefficiency, sociology fails. Sociology has not yet been able to establish a proper scientific collection of concepts. Many words used in sociology are ambiguous and have varying definitions for multiple people. The word caste and class, for instance, has not yet gained a clear definition. Sociology, however, is not scientific. (3) Lack of precise measurement: Like natural science, sociology can’t make exact calculations. There are definite weighing criteria, such as k.g. The metric by which objects can be calculated. But we don’t have any other measurement methods in sociology. In comparison to sociology , social interactions that are intangible in nature and can not be calculated are dealt with.
